VI Chemical Peel Q&A

What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels use carefully formulated chemical solutions to remove the outer layers of your skin in order to reveal a layer of fresh, glowing, healthy skin underneath. These treatments can deliver remarkable results and can address cosmetic concerns, such as:

  • Acne scarring
  • Areas of unusual pigmentation
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Irregular texture
  • Uneven skin tone

Making chemical peels a regular part of your skin care routine is a great way to keep your complexion looking its very best.

What is a VI Peel?

The VI Peel is a chemical peel created and manufactured by Vitality Institute. Although it is a medical-grade peel, the VI peel is gentler than many chemical peels and offers stunning results without requiring a lengthy recovery period.

The solution contains salicylic acid, retinoic acid, trichloroacetic acid, phenol, vitamin C, and minerals. Patients and providers have relied on VI Peels for over a decade, as they have helped thousands of men and women achieve impressive results.

How does the VI Peel work?

Chemical peels are often used to treat facial skin, but the VI Peel can also be used to address concerns on your:

  • Arms
  • Back
  • Chest
  • Legs
  • Neck

The first step is cleaning your skin to prepare for the application of your peel.

Then, your provider applies the solution to the treatment area. Two layers are applied to facilitate maximum penetration, which allows the solution to reach the targeted cells. The time it takes to apply the peel varies according to the treatment area, but it typically ranges between 20-45 minutes.

Once the solution dries on your skin, you can return to your daily routine. After the peel has had around five hours to penetrate, you simply wash it off. Within the next 2-3 days, your skin will begin to peel, and it may continue to peel for up to six days. You may notice irregular discoloration as the peeling process continues, which is perfectly normal.

You’ll notice the results of your peel as soon as your skin stops peeling, but the full effects won’t be visible until 4-6 weeks after your treatment. At that point, you notice smoother, clearer, firmer skin with a healthy glow.

How many VI Peel treatments do I need?

You may need 3-6 peels with 3-4 weeks between each to achieve optimal results. Ultimately, your treatment plan depends on the condition of your skin and the issues you’re hoping to improve. During your initial visit, your provider discusses your treatment plan in greater detail.

After treatment, you should protect your skin from sun exposure and adhere to the skin care routine advised by your provider in order to extend the results of your VI Peel.
